He also shares handy tips on attaching the top to the base cabinets and its maintenance. The result is a beautiful and unique countertop that fits perfectly with his kitchen. Follow Bas's example and create your own custom-made oak countertop.

Description by Bas

Countertop/bar made for the kitchen. Here, the hob and sink were sawn in, and then coated three times in clear varnish and mounted.

How I made this project

First, I ordered and collected the countertop. Then, I carefully measured where the hob and sink should go. Next, I cut them out with a plunge saw. Lightly sand, degrease, and then apply the first coat of varnish. Then, sand again (fibers come up after the first coat), degrease, and varnish. Then lightly sand again, degrease, and varnish. The countertop is now ready for mounting on the kitchen island with a bar. Next, I attached 2 steel beams to support the overhang. Hob and sink were then installed.
