The origin of phenolic plywood

The construction of Phenolic plywood

Phenolic plywood is made of plywood, a sheet material consisting of several thin layers of wood veneer glued together crosswise. The thin layers of wood veneer that are used can warp in the direction of the grain, and by gluing them together crosswise, the panel becomes a lot stronger and also warps less quickly. This makes plywood strong enough for constructive applications and you often see it used in the building industry.

The properties of the plastic top layer

The difference between Phenolic plywood and multiplex is the plastic top layer of Phenolic plywood. This plastic top layer is made of phenolic resin and is very smooth and rock hard. Thanks to this layer, Phenolic plywood is scratch-resistant and impact-resistant.

Phenolic Plywood panels are WBP bonded. A WBP bonding, also known as exterior bonding, stands for "Water Boiled Proof". Panel material with the WBP mark has passed a special test in which it is placed in boiling water for 72 hours. If the adhesive does not come off during this test, the board is rated WBP. The term WBP is therefore a quality mark, guaranteeing that the glue between the veneer layers will not come loose in damp indoor and outdoor conditions. Whether the board material can actually be used outdoors depends on the type of wood used.

Rectangle

Mitre

With mitre sawn board material, you can make invisible joints. With mitre sawn board material, the end edges are sawn diagonally at a 45 degree angle. You can also determine the angle yourself, with a maximum of 46 degrees.

Rounding

You can round off the sharp edges of the head edges. You can do this for the bottom side, top side and bottom and top side. When ordering, you can determine the radius yourself.

Chamfer

The ends can also be chamfered. As with the rounding of the ends, you can do this for the top, bottom and top and bottom. Instead of the radius, enter the depth.

Hollow section
