Custom made wall cupboard

In our previous house I had designed a really cool shelving unit from TOSIZE.de. I didn't take it with me because it wouldn't fit exactly in the new house, after all it was custom made. Still, there was something missing in our house and I started to miss the unit more and more. Storage space to quickly tidy up the play mess after a day of playing with the kids. An eye-catcher to display beautiful accessories. That's why I opted for a cool shelving unit again.

Since the previous project, the shelving unit has been further developed. The way of assembling it has become considerably easier. It was already intuitive, but now you can puzzle the unit together quite easily, no matter how enormous the unit is.

The ordering

After I had completely sketched how I wanted my closet, I started working with the design tool. It works very easily. If you have the dimensions of your wall and the height of the ceiling, you can arrange the closet as you want. My wish was again to place the closet on the longest wall of the living room. The problem with the wall was that it was 'interrupted' by a window. 'How can I implement that window in the closet?' Then I thought that I could use the window to create a workplace for myself. No sooner said than done. The wall closet consists of two parts that are connected to each other by a desk. The desk rests on the windowsill and now the window is, as it were, framed by the wall closet. This turned out really cool.

The Delivery

The cabinet is delivered on a pallet. Many loose planks are coded with a number-letter combination that corresponds to the construction drawing. You build a LEGO cabinet, as it were. It looks very impressive, but if you sort everything neatly from the pallet, the cabinet is built quite quickly. I chose primed MDF, so that I could apply the paint immediately.

The building up

The building process always requires some effort. In any case, the advice is always to do this with two people, but yes, I am of course 'The Single Mama', so I had help from my oldest son, but largely did everything alone.

The finishing

The cabinet was already assembled and then I painted two layers of water-based lacquer on it. I used Histor Perfect Finish Wood Lacquer Semi-gloss color Velvet Gray EAN 8711216436348 for this. A soft gray color that actually fits in any interior. I found some really cool brass T-handles online that make the handle-less cabinet doors just a tad more chic. All in all, I am very proud of this project again. It was quite a job, especially the painting I found tough. I find the implemented desk unique, I now work wonderfully behind my laptop while looking outside.

TOSIZE.de continues to develop the products, which ensures that it also becomes an easier product for the customer. Because even if you are not a DIY-er, you can express your creativity here. I am super proud that I fixed it again on my own and that also gives the cabinet a little more meaning in the space. One thing I know for sure: If we move again, the cabinet will come with us!
