Description of Stephanie

As a basis for this project I used the IKEA metod kitchen cabinets with VEDDINGE fronts and the handleless push fitting from IKEA. I covered the cabinets with Oak Carpentry Panel B/C 19 mm from TOSIZE.de. I myself could not distinguish between the B and C sides. I made the desktop from the same material. This top is placed loosely on top, so that it can be raised later when the children are older and have outgrown this height.

How I made this project

First I assembled the cabinets and mounted them to the wall. Then I measured the dimensions of the oak carpentry panel and ordered the wood. I attached the panels to the outside of the cabinet using screws and sealant. Although it is not recommended to use solid panels vertically, I decided to go ahead with this after consulting with TOSIZE.de customer service. By attaching it this way, the wood can hardly warp or expand in any other annoying way. The desktop lies loosely on the small chest of drawers. Thanks to the attachment system on the high cabinet and the horizontal plank on the underside of the top, it is still sturdy.

Dimensions of my DIY project

The highest cabinet is 210 cm high. The desk top has a width of 140 cm and the desk itself is 52 cm high.
